Ten Tors News 09 - May 2008
PINK was this years chosen colour and how fitting this was given the glorious weather, even if it did get a bit too hot on the Sunday when the breeze disappeared.
This year’s teams showed us how important it is to work as a team:
- Excellent team spirit shown by all, I was even stopped by one scruitineer after Fridays scruitineering to be told that one of our teams (Rachel’s team) was the best she had seen all day, she could not praise them more highly.
- The team (BNW) that was prepared to carry one of their team’s complete rucksack between them for the majority of the weekend to enable them to finish as a complete team.
- Our 45 mile team who were willing to sacrifice a good time to ensure that the team made it to the finish complete. (Greg only had key hole surgery on his knee less than 2 weeks ago)
- Spaniorum walked with all team kit but only 4 walkers from Saturday afternoon and maintained high spirits
- The Dartmoor mountain rescue were out on force at the weekend even doing random kit checks on the teams, Jake gave the rest of his Cabot team a scare when for 5-10mins he could not remember where he had packed his waterproofs when stopped! (the whole team would have been stopped if not found).
Results
- BNW DIST SCOUTS - ROUTE F - 15.05 - COMPLETE
- CABOT DIST SCOUTS - ROUTE A - 14.00 - COMPLETE

Our sympathy goes to Chloe (due to a heavy fall) and Grace & Liz (stomach complaints) who had to drop out over the weekend. But were still willing to cheer their teams home when crossing the finish line.
Thanks
We would like to say thank you to all the walkers who have showed excellent team spirit and morale over a difficult training year, you have showed us that you are ready to face whatever Dartmoor has to throw at you.
Thanks to all the parents who have supported their teenagers and were out in force to see them at the weekend.
To all the trainers who have given up their time to prepare you ready for the ten tors event.
The adults who went down on Thursday to setup camp before everyone arrived on Friday.
Mark for this years sweatshirt design.
Special Thanks
This must go to Mike and Jenny who work tirelessly in ensuring we are well fed and cared for and ensuring that all the equipment is ready and complete on all the walks. They have been involved in with Ten Tors well over 20 yrs.
