Cancellations and confirmations

February 17, 2012

The Cotswold equipment evening has been cancelled due to lack of interest. You can still get 20% discount anytime, let us know if you need the details.

You can now confirm your attendance for the first Dartmoor training hike, you have until next Sunday lunchtime. You'll also need to provide the colours of your waterproofs so have this to hand.

Don't forget you are required to carry full kit and it must be the standard laid out in the kit list, this is for your safety and you will not be able to walk without the necessary kit.

Well done Team C

On the training weekend there was a quiz on Saturday night, the results are in and Team C (Fred; Emily; Sam; Florence; Maeve & Justin) has been declared the winner, speak to Laurence to get your prize. Some of the funnier answers we had are below for your amusement...

  • "Mooning" to attract attention on the moor is an incorrect answer and may lead to frostbite.
  • "The Prime Minister" could well be considered by some as the obvious candidate that would be left on the moor by the crew of a rescue helicopter but again not the answer we were looking for.
  • "Cafes" are not essential landmarks to be found on a route-card unless you join the adult support team

Team sweatshirts

It's the time when we need your designs for the front of the jumpers you will all be sporting when you complete the Ten Tors 2012 event. Submit your designs by the end or March to be in with a chance of winning.

DARTMOOR SELECTION - CONGRATULATIONS

February 11, 2012

Cabot Ten Tors Coordinator Announcement

As you are all aware we have a limited number of spaces available for our 35 mile walkers for the 2012 event in May. Dartmoor has an unforgiving nature and the Ten Tors managers have discussed the needs and assessed the risks associated with this and then looked at the walkers to determine if we can safely take you to the moor.

We are pleased to share with you that all walkers that are currently training with Cabot Ten Tors will be given the chance to train on Dartmoor.

Please note, as previously stated we have been allocated 5 35 mile teams which is a total of 30 participants. Therefore we will still require a further selection process after the second Dartmoor hike. Hopefully after the second Dartmoor hike we will be in a position to firm up who is in the event team and who is to be a reserve. The updated selection criteria matrix will be available to download in the passworded 'Routes' section of the website from Sunday.

With this is mind, Rich has arranged a talk and discount evening at Bristol's Cotswold Outdoor on Monday 20th Feb at 7pm. The Cotswold staff will do a presentation and then our leaders will be on hand to offer advice and you'll receive 20% discount on anything you buy (excluding sale items).

If you plan to attend please let us know by Friday 17th as the event will be cancelled if less than 5 of you sign up. If the event is cancelled we will announce it here on Saturday 18th.
