November hike

posted in: Ten Tors | 0

Well done everyone, it was a great start to the season with reasonable kind weather. It was a new route and I’m told it was hilly, everyone got round in good time, some with a few detours off the route.

A few early lessons to take away from this hike…

  1. Food – you need a good supply, more than your average school packed lunch as you’re working hard all day and need to keep your energy levels high
  2. Rest stops – we tend to keep them short, sitting around just gets you wet and cold and no closer to the finish so breaks tend to be only for a few minutes. So stuff some food in your pockets and be prepared to eat on the go
  3. Kit – you may have received feedback on your kit from the morning kit check, or have learnt what does and does not work during the day. Please don’t ignore this or leave any changes you need to make until the last minute.

You can register for the December hike now, expect it to be more of the same, a local hike with similar terrain and distance.

When we return from hikes it will typically be between 4-6pm, we’ll always aim to give you at least 30 minutes notice via the text alert (more as we get further afield next year). We can’t give an exact time as the weather, map reading skills and route make it impossible to know our exact return time.

Please get in touch if you have any questions and can’t find the info on the website.
