Ten Tors cancelled

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that this year’s Ten Tors will not go ahead. The Scout Association has put a temporary suspension on all face to face activities as from today so we cannot train which means we will not meet the standards to take part in the event which is expected to be cancelled by the army in the coming weeks anyway.

Please pass on to your son/daughter that the training team are incredibly proud of the hard work and effort they put into the training they have completed so far and this will not be wasted as it puts them in a very good position for the new season of Ten Tors which I’m sure will start again in the Autumn when, hopefully, all this madness will be over. They can also help this by maintaining their fitness and continuing to do walks.

We will be offering refunds of the final instalment of £65 as this would have covered the upcoming training, can I please ask you each to forward bank details which I can forward on to Rachel so she can arrange this.

Kit Return

We will sort out a date for you to return your loan kit, please do not wash waterproof coats in washing powder as this destroys the waterproofing.  If they are really dirty they can be washed in Tech Wash and then tumble dried on a low heat to revive the Gortex but please ensure any detergent build-up in your washing machine is washed out first.

I am so sorry to have to share this news, it is not what we were hoping for and as a team, we are gutted but the health and well being of the young people and the adult volunteers must remain our priority in these uncertain times.

Many thanks for your Support

Kim, Cabot Ten Tors Manager
